Teacher Tips

It’s that time of year again… Performance season is creeping up on us and whether you are new to OSB, TDC or a veteran, our Teachers have some tips to share!

  1. Work FULL OUT!

We know you’ve heard this one before, but it is never more important than when you are preparing for a stage or competitive performance. Dancing full out means that you are less likely to have injuries and less likely to be thrown off when you are performing in a new space.

  2. TIME MANAGEMENT

Things can get very busy before recital, exams or competitions. You may have extra rehearsals, travel time and less down time in your week. Make sure you are organized with your school work and other obligations!

  3.  LISTEN

When it comes time to clean a piece, come ready to work! The closer we get to performance time, the more focus and energy you need to bring to the studio. Although a teacher may not be addressing you specifically, the notes and information they are sharing are important. Pay attention!

  4. HAVE FUN!

Performing is one of the most wonderful experiences and working with your fellow dancers and teachers builds life long friendships. Be prepared for lots of excitement, laughter, special moments and memories!

Thank-you to all our TDC Choreographers and Teachers for sharing their tips!
